UNIT 8. SALARY AND PAYSLIP.

In this unit, we learnt how to make payslips.

The word "payslip" wasn't unknown for me. The first time I saw a payslip was at home. My mom was making one, when I looked at it, I thought that it would be impossible for me to do one.

When I knew that we had to study it in class, I was a little bit scared, but when I learnt how to do it, this fears disappeared.

In my opinion, all the employers should know how is the payslip made. This way, they will be able to see it there's any problem in their payslips.
As we used a real payslip template (plantilla) like the following one, it was easy for us to understand the unit.

Other thing that we studied in this unit is "FOGASA", an organization that pays workers in case the company goes bankrupt.
Here's a video that explain how does this company works.

UNIT 7. WORKING TIME.

In this unit, we studied the working time; usual working time, over time hours, reduced hours...

I think it's really important that all the workers know their rights concerning the working time as many employers ask for their employees to work more than they can. For example: Not having the minimum rest.

In my experience, although I never have worked with a contract, I have been working more than 9 or 10 hours in a row, even though it's not legal.

Recently, I saw on the newspaper that the Pamplona government made a mistake calculating the extra hours and they could have to pay almost a million euros.
Here's the link of the new: http://www.diariodenavarra.es/noticias/navarra/pamplona-comarca/pamplona/2018/04/01/pamplona-pagar-millon-horas-extras-mal-calculadas-584467-1702.html

Concerning the reduced hours, I had heard it before, but I didn't know how it worked. This year, during my internship, an educator from my Infant School, started to reduce her working hours.

I also know another case; my cousin recently had a baby, so she asked for a reduction of her working hours. Her company didn't allow her and now, they're going to trial.

In this unit, we also studied the equality plans, a group of measures designed to reach equal treatment and equal opportunities and eliminate sex or gender discrimination.
Step by step, we're trying to reach the equality between man and woman, and although this plan is just compulsory for companies with more than 250 employers, this is a good start.

This is a video from a company that has implemented this plan and they explain how they carry it out.

My opinion

As you know, I'm studying Infant Education and in this grade, we study FOL.

In my opinion, I think that the subject is a little bit boring in some units, BUT it's totally necessary for us to know our rights as workers, how to act if there's an emergency...

In short, I think that this subject should be compulsory at High School.
